Zakat ul-Fitr Announcement: Give Your Zakat al-Fitr to Those in Need

Zakat ul-Fitr, also known as Fitrana, is a charitable contribution that Muslims give at the end of Ramadan. It is obligatory upon every Muslim, young and old, to pay Zakat al-Fitr before Eid al-Fitr prayer as a means of purifying oneself and helping those in need.

This year, the Zakat ul-Fitr amount is set at $15 per person. It is incumbent upon every member of the household, including children and adults, to give this amount on behalf of themselves and their dependents.

Please pay your Zakat ul Fitr ($15 per person in your household) as soon as possible. This is a right of those that are less fortunate, so they can enjoy the celebration of Eid as well. In order to facilitate the distribution of all Fitra funds before Eid prayer, we will stop collecting Fitra on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.(Before Eid Salah)

NAMCC Itikaf

Itikaf refers to going into seclusion in the Masjid for the sole purpose of worshiping Allah swt and attaching oneself and one’s heart to His creator.

Itikaf provides an opportunity to the believer to get closer to Allah by temporarily freeing oneself and one’s mind from the activities and worries of the world.

This provides an excellent opportunity to train oneself to disassociate temporarily from the worries of the world and focus only on Allah alone.

It is also deduced from the various narrations that one of the major objects of Itikaf during Ramadan is to search for Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Power) what better manner can there be than to remain in ibadah at all times, whether one is awake or asleep, to obtain the reward of 1,000 months (over 83 years) of worship.
